ORGANIZATIONAL EXCELLENCE AND SUSTAINABILITY

Throughout the world organizations adopt business excellence frameworks to guide their business process and improvements required in it. Mostly literature described the main critical success factors as top leadership commitment, HRM, Process management, Training and education, communication, quality data reporting and customer satisfaction.

Excellent companies during the process of achieving excellence and after achieving excellence face  a number of problems. The demand of better than previous definitely creates difficulties.

A study was conducted by Alan Brown in Australian companies which received Australian Business Excellence Awards. Alan use qualitative approach in this study and interviews are used as a tool to collect the data from respondents of this study.

EMBEDDING

It is necessary to integrate the excellence with business process. Many steps are required to integrate the excellence into business process such as communication, linkage of KPIs with strategy and performance management system which insure the link between excellence and operations

ENSURING MEANINGFULNESS

Make sure that everyone in organization perceives meaning from excellence plan for himself. This can be done by people involvement and people development. The big picture approach should be adopted.

 DRIVING

After integrate excellence and ensuring its meaning for everyone it is important to maintain the momentum of this excellence drive. Mostly organization fails in this stage and they cannot maintain the moment. Top leadership commitment is the key in this stage.  Senior and middle level managers support, management by walking away, cross functional teams, internal audit and benchmarking can be used in this stage to maintain momentum.

ENGAGING

In order to achieve excellence people involvement in process, communication, open culture, customer focus and direct linkage of management are baseline for the foundation of business excellence.

NOT BEING ONEROUS

It is important that no one can assume extra work to do to achieve excellence. It should be the part of daily work. It is also important to prioritize the strategies which are applied for achieving excellence and never try to do everything.

 CONSISTENCY

Become a excellent organization it is necessary that all parts of organization working with same tune. Leadership, Management by walking away, communication, cross-functional teams and easy access to information are play vital role.
