Knowledge Management towards business Excellence

From 1980 knowledge management become an emerging area in management and more particularly in total quality management. However knowledge was define to early from Greeks but as a management philosophy it is a newly burn baby. Knowledge is grouped into two major categories one is Tacit and other is explicit knowledge.

Tacit knowledge is define as mind to mind transfer knowledge such as observing someone action or discussion with someone. Experience is generally classified in this category.

Explicit knowledge in hard knowledge which is summarize in books or in written materials. Explicit knowledge provides the theoretical foundation to understand tacit knowledge and utilize tacit knowledge more beneficially.

Numbers of knowledge management cycle were developed by different researchers and describe the knowledge management implementation.

M. Max Evans et al develop a knowledge management cycle in 2014 which is more useful and applicable for organization to achieve business excellence via knowledge management.

IDENTIFY/ CREATE

This model start from identify/ Create. When a request for desire knowledge is generate, system determine either it have required knowledge in its data base or not. If have not required data then it create the required data.

STORE

After identifying or creating the knowledge is store in store stage for origination future requirements. In recent era advance data base are available for organization to store data in more efficient way.

SHARE

It is important phase in knowledge management. If organization has knowledge but it can share where it is required then it is has no value. Sharing can be don either by push methodology (sent to all ) or by pull methodology (request on need).

USE

After sharing knowledge with in organization it is used I appropriate place at suitable to for the benefit of organization.

LEARN

After use of knowledge in learn stage it can be determine on the base of result achieved in use stag that either knowledge is relevant or not. If knowledge is not relevant then it goes back to create stage to create relevant data. If knowledge is relevant then it proceed to improve phase

IMPROVE

In this stage the relevance of knowledge is improve on the base of learning resulted from previous used and then again it store
